Overview

Big Ed’s BBQ, nestled in the heart of Dayton, Ohio, is a shining example of authentic barbecue done right. This food trailer stands out not just for its convenient location but for the rich, smoky flavor packed into each dish. As a barbecue joint, it caters especially well to those seeking hearty, flavorful meals that evoke a traditional pitmaster’s touch without the fuss of a sit-down restaurant.

The highlights here include standout dishes like the Pulled Pork Dinner, Two Sausage Meal, and the signature Big Ed’s Chicken and Ribs Feast. What sets these apart is the careful balance in seasoning—the meat never feels overwhelmed by sauce but instead complemented by it, allowing the natural flavors to shine. For instance, the pulled pork is tender, juicy, and perfectly dressed with a sauce that is tangy yet mild, satisfying the palate without overpowering.

Patrons frequently mention the ribs, which are notoriously difficult to perfect but at Big Ed’s, they’re a clear favorite. Succulent and smoky with a fall-off-the-bone tenderness, the ribs keep customers returning and earning high praise for their authentic, slow-cooked feel. The variety of sandwiches, ranging from smoky sausage links to full slabs, also underscores the trailer’s focus on quality barbecue classics.

The experience at Big Ed’s BBQ is enhanced by the friendly and personable service. Big Ed himself engages warmly with guests, sharing his passion and making the experience memorable. While the food truck doesn’t provide a traditional dining space, the vibrant atmosphere around the trailer and the community feel make it an inviting spot for locals and visitors alike.

This establishment appears to target barbecue lovers who appreciate genuine, no-frills meat dishes served with care. It’s ideal for those on the go or anyone wanting an authentic taste of Dayton’s BBQ scene without the need for elaborate dining arrangements. We saw the food truck and decided to stop…because you know, shop local. OH MY STARS….the pulled pork was by far the best I’ve ever had. Not dry, not overly seasoned. The BBQ sauce was just right, it didn’t over power the meat it complimented it. And the service was great! Ed was kind and passionate about his food and personable. Will go back for sure!

I tried the pulled pork dinner and it was very tasty and the price is reasonable for the amount they give, I gave a 4 star because I wished they had table to sit but I would definitely stop here if I'm in the area

We were in Dayton buying a motorcycle from a guy, and wanted somewhere to lunch after. Never been to Dayton before so I pulled up Maps and found this place. When I say delicious, I mean DELICIOUS!! My friend likened it to a transcendental experience. It is by far the BEST BBQ we have ever had, and Big Ed himself was so nice to chat with and listen to! 10/10 would recommend, I just wish I lived closer so I could eat there again!

I was a block down and smelled that good smoke flavor. Pulled up Google and found this gem. Ed has a great smoker trailer with all the smoked meats you crave. I took advantage of the two smoked sausage meal deal and was not disappointed. He dunks them in a luscious barbecue sauce just before loading in the bun. The baked beans are ridiculous. Thick, sweet, savory. The mac and cheese had great flavor as well. Aside from all that, the service from Ed was top-notch. Well worth the stop, and I would make the trip to this food trailer again.

Soooo, I needed to go to Bid FTA at the new location on Webster Street. While driving by, I noticed a BBQ trailer in the lot next to it, at the corner of Stanley and Webster Street. Since I was already trying to figure out what I was going to eat, I decided to give them a try. The name of the food trailer is Big Ed’s BBQ. There is a pretty extensive menu of BBQ items to choose from; ribs, chicken, polish sausage, steak burgers, etc. There were also sides: mac n’ cheese, potato salad, collard/turnip greens, and macaroni salad. You could do meat only or dinner (entrée w/ 2 sides) At first, I was going to just do meat (being that I’m a carnivore), but figured since I needed a veggie for the week, I better go with the dinner. I opted for the rib dinner w/ mac n’ cheese and greens ($14). While my food was being prepared, I chatted up “Big Ed”. He mentioned that he used to work at Huffy’s. Since I had always heard that Huffy’s had good food, I felt better about my choice for lunch. I can only assume that business is pretty steady b/c there was a whole lotta meat on that grill. I gotta say, Big Ed did not disappoint. The greens had a nice flavor to them w/ a little bit of a spice kick. The mac n’ cheese was cheesy and tasted homemade. The ribs, although not necessarily fall off the bone tender, were by no means tough, but meaty, with a really good sweet and tangy sauce on it. All in all, I have to say Big Ed’s BBQ was pretty darn tasty and worth a try.

I was looking for bbq on Memorial Day because I was in from Out of town. I found this place on Yelp. The sausage was big and it tasted good. The mac and cheese was not seasoned and it was just ok. The beans were good even though I ordered greens instead of baked beans but he gave me beans. The ribs were rubbery or chewy. They are not fall off the bones ribs but they were seasoned well.
